Vocal Justice
Building youth power through voice, story, and social justice literacy.
Vocal Justice is a national education nonprofit founded by Shawon Jackson. It equips young people with the communications skills and social justice frameworks to become powerful advocates for themselves and their communities.
Mission
To build the next generation of communicators and advocates by equipping young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to speak truth and drive change.
Vocal Justice works in schools across the country, bringing rigorous, equity-centered curriculum to students who are too often told their voices don't matter. The organization believes that communications skills — the ability to speak clearly, argue persuasively, and tell your own story — are a form of power. And that power should be distributed equitably.
What we build
Youth Voice
Developing the communications skills and confidence for young people to speak with authority and purpose.
Social Justice Literacy
Building the frameworks to understand systems of power and inequity — and the language to name them.
Advocacy & Action
Connecting voice to action, so students move from articulating problems to driving real change.
